• Passed away at age 84 after struggling with Alzheimer's for several years
• Began his career as a child actor in silent films
• Started working behind the camera as a film editor for films produced and directed by his brother Jack White before eventually directing comedy features for MGM in the '30s
• Appointed as the head of Columbia Pictures' short film division where he would go on to become the mastermind behind dozens of skits for The Three Stooges during the height of their popularity
• Retired in the late '50s after Columbia closed it's short film department in 1957
• Could shoot a 15-minute comedy short in as little as one day, most often times using legacy stock from the studio and using the same sets
