• Named winner at the 1991 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition
• Graduated summa cum laude from Harvard with a social studies degree in 1991
• Initially intended to attend Yale Law, where he was accepted after Harvard, however, he would never return
• Son of well-known jazz saxophonist, Dewey Redman
• Relocated to Brookyln, New York, after college, where he would begin collaborating with Pat Metheny, Peter Bernstein and several others
• Released his debut album in 1993 under Warner Bros․ Records
• Began playing the clarinet at nine-years-old and the saxophone a year later
