• Represented Czechoslovakia at the International Music Festival in 1948 and came away in first place in his category
• Was anointed a member of the Order of Canada in 1995 due to his achievement to the country

• Won a Gemini Award in 1989 for Best Performance by a Supporting Actor for his role in "Two Men․"
• Established The Christopher J․ Rubes Center For EMS Studies in honor of his physician's son who passed away from pneumonia
• Received the Earle Grey Award for his contribution to Canadian television
• Became the youngest basso singer at the Prague Opera House after graduating from the Conservatory of Music in Prague
• Moved to Canada in 1948 in order to further enhance his music career
• Was a co-founder of the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, where he performed in over a thousand shows throughout his career
