• Is very committed to his charitable work, involving himself in over 300 fundraising events in the past 10 years, including hosting an annual "Bowl-a-thon," benefitting the National Asthma Center
• Has been nominated for numerous awards for his role on "Days of Our Lives," including five Image Awards and one Daytime Emmy Award
• Received the honor of being added to the Kansas Historical Society’s list of famous Kansans, which include Amelia Earhart, Barry Sanders, and President Eisenhower
• While majoring in prelaw and journalism at Topeka’s Washburn University, he auditioned and started to perform in plays, in doing so developing a passion for acting and going on to appear in musicals and other campus productions
• Originated the character Abe Carver on "Days of our Lives" in 1981, and has remained on the show with only two breaks, during which he was a recurring character
• As an active sportsman, he enjoys playing racquetball and basketball, while he is not working
• Served in the Marines as a reporter for the service newspaper "The Windward Marine," before being sent to Vietnam to perform combat duties for a year
