• Earned an American government degree from Harvard University where he was a member of the school's basketball team
• His only foray into professional sports came in the mid '70s after being drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, but after a single lackluster season, he chose to enter corporate America instead
• Briefly worked with Fox beginning in 1994, but chose to rejoin CBS 11 years later
• After a few short years working for companies including Xerox and Kodak, he would eventually begin his broadcasting career in 1984 after earning a spot as a sportscaster for the Washington Bullets
• Following jobs at regional affiliates in the Washington, D․C․ area, he joined CBS Sports in 1987 as a play-by-play announcer for both the NFL, NBA and college basketball
• Became one of several investors to be named a minority owner of the Washington Nationals in 2006
• Often goes by the nickname J․B․, as he is easily confused with other men of the same name
