• He and his three brothers all went into the film industry, most becoming directors and producers and one becoming a cameraman
• Started his career as an office boy at the Mack Sennett studio when he was 14 and worked his way up to being a director
• As a child, he and his brothers would ride horses as extras in outdoor westerns
• Co-founded Lloyd Hamilton Corp․ with Lloyd Hamilton in 1922
• Especially known for writing comedy shorts, notably several about the Three Stooges
• Was already producing musical comedies by the age of 25
