• Graduated from Emerson College with a degree in television and video production in 2006
• Was offered a writing job on "The Sarah Silverman Program" after Silverman saw him performing a stand-up routine at the Largo comedy club
• First began performing stand-up comedy in junior high and later pursued it as a career in Los Angeles after graduating from college
• Best known as a writer and co-executive producer for "Parks and Recreation․"
• Played drums and sang backup for the music group Don't Stop or We'll Die, of which fellow comics Michael Cassady and Paul Rust were also members
• Coined the term "humblebrag" in response to the type of self-promotion he kept seeing on social media and later published the book "Humblebrag: The Art of False Modesty" in 2012
• In addition to producing the show, he occasionally appeared on "Parks and Recreation" as an animal control staffer
