• Honored with numerous distinctions for his investigative work including awards from the Associated Press, the Radio and Television News Directors Association and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
• Graduated in 1977 from Claremont Men's College with a bachlor's degree and later from the University of California at San Francisco's College of Law in 1980
• Began his career as an attorney in San Francisco before transitioning to news reporting for local affiliates across the country including stations in Kansas, North Carolina and Maryland
• After reporting for local affiliates in the '80s, he signed on with Court TV in the early '90s, anchoring their "Prime Time Justice" and "Inside America's Courts" before signing on with Fox News in 2002
• Once taught as an adjunct professor at New York Law School
