• Honored with the Handel Medallion for her civic work throughout the New York stage community
• Originally interested in becoming an artist, she studied at the Dublin School of Art and later the Polytechnic School of Art in London
• Died in 2005 at the age of 91 due to complications stemming from Alzheimer's Disease
• After gaining critical success from an early age in films produced in London, she moved to New York at the age of 27 to pursue other projects on Broadway and in Hollywood
• Following diminishing success due to the characterization that she was difficult to work with, she eventually regained fame as a character actress in the 1950s and beyond
• It was only after her death that the identity of the biological father of her first child, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg, was named as Orson Welles, as she was married to another man at the time of Michael's birth
