• Won Clio Awards for his work on the MTV channel, an ASIFA award, and was recognized by Adweek magazine as "one of the eight leaders of the new media․"
• Started out as a radio DJ and record producer and founded the jazz label Oblivion Records in the 1970s
• Launched MTV in 1981 while he was director of on-air promotion at The Movie Channel

• Launched Channel Frederator, one of the first animation channels on the internet, in 2005, and Cartoon Hangover, an internet channel for original productions, in 2012
