• Best known as Senator Robert F․ Kennedy's press secretary and as a former president of National Public Radio
• After serving as president of National Public Radio from 1977 to 1983, he became the executive vice president of the public relations firm Gray & Co
• In the wake of the Watergate scandal, he wrote the books "Perfectly Clear: Nixon from Whittier to Watergate" and "U․S․ v․ Richard M․ Nixon: The Final Crisis․"
