• During World War II, he helped stage Irving Berlin's "This Is the Army" revue to entertain fellow servicemen
• Became director and president of the David Library of the American Revolution in Washington Crossing, Pa․, in 1979
• Studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts
• Started doing radio and local stage productions in Philadelphia when he was 7 years old
• Best remembered for playing radio's Henry Aldrich, a woeful teenager with the trademark cry of "Coming, Mother!"
• Directed such Broadway plays as "See My Lawyer," "Me and Molly," "At War With the Army" and "January Thaw․"
• His Henry Aldrich character remained 16 throughout the 14 year run of "The Aldrich Family․"
• Could still perform the cracking voice of adolescent Henry Aldrich late in life, and would use it to entertain friends
• Later in his career, he staged morale boosters for IBM salespeople
• Joined the Army Special Services unit during World War II
