• Founded the Elton Brand Foundation to support charities in Peekskill, N․Y․, Durham, N․C․, and Chicago
• Played for the Duke University Blue Devils for two years before leaving school early to enter the NBA Draft
• Was drafted by the Chicago Bulls as the first overall pick of the 1999 NBA Draft
• Founding member and president of the film production and distribution company Gibraltar Films, which produced the 2007 film "Rescue Dawn" as one of their first projects
• In addition to the Atlanta Hawks, he has also played for the Chicago Bulls, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Dallas Mavericks
