• Earned a scholarship to attend George Washington University when she was 16-years-old
• Earned her law degree from Rutgers at Newark in 1976
• Left George Washington University after two years in order to marry her high school sweetheart, but eventually transferred to the University of Houston and graduated in 1970
• Quote: "I was a Republican because I thought that those were the people who best supported markets․ I think that is not true anymore․ I was a Republican at a time when I felt like there was a problem that the markets were under a lot more strain․ It worried me whether or not the government played too activist a role․"
• After working from home for some time in order to raise her young children, she would eventually begin teaching at various law schools across the country including the University of Texas and the University of Pennsylvania
• Announced her initial intention to run for Ted Kennedy's former Senate seat for the state of Massachusetts in September of 2011
• Began advising the National Bankruptcy Review Commission in 1995
• Shortly after being sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden in January of 2013, she would join the Senate Banking Committee, formerly the Committee on Banking and Currency
• Named to the Congressional Oversight Panel in 2008 in order to help implement the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act
• Became the first female senator from the state of Massachusetts after being elected in November of 2012
