• In 2010 she was awarded the Member of the Order of the British Empire at the Queen’s Birthday Honours lists, to recognize her services to drama
• When she was 17 she appeared in plays broadcasted on the radio, as well as several small parts on TV, until she finally joined the cast of "Coronation Street․"
• Known to respond to fan mail, but is rarely seen signing autographs in public
• With a degree in teaching and training at the Northern School of Music, she taught speech and drama, but always yearned to act
