Fast Facts

• Graduated from the University of Tulsa after which he studied at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles
• Only considered a job in the entertainment industry in his mid 20s after working as an art director for Francis Ford Coppola
• Quote: "You know what's funny about life is be careful what you ask for, because you're gonna get it․ I kind of put out in the universe I want to make a movie about Santa Claus, and the next thing I know I get a call from Disney․"
• After years making films, he would venture into the direction of stage productions, starting with off-Broadway plays in the mid 2000s
• Signed on as Francis Ford Coppola's assistant director by the late '70s, a job that would earn him numerous accolades over the course of their several projects together
• Started the production company Poetry & Pictures Inc․ with fellow collaborators L․D․ Napier and Ryan Covert
• Made "Ernest Save Christmas" as a birthday gift to his young daughter and "The Fast and the Furious" for his son
• While not working in the filmmaking industry, he is an avid painter of watercolors and writer of poetry, both of which have been published professionally
• Agreed to work with Coppola for an eight week trial basis on the film "Apocalypse Now" to see if he enjoyed the filmmaking process which eventually turned into a three year relationship
