  • Received a Bachelor's degree at McGill University School of Law and an additional Bachelor's in Communication Arts from Loyola University in Montreal, Canada
  • Worked for the National Film Board of Canada when he was 22 years old
  • After working for several small horror films in Montreal, eventually became vice president of production for Cinepix, now known as Lions Gate Films, where he produced director David Cronenberg's early films
  • Started in the entertainment business as a cast driver for director Robert Altman's 1971 film "McCabe and Mrs․ Miller" before working as a gofer, production assistant and location manager for a number of early Canadian feature films
