• Worked to end gender discrimination in the workplace and advocated for women's rights, for which she was honored with a Crystal Award from Women in Film
• Her career began as a production assistant on adventure documentaries, and upon entering the movie business she became unhappy with the disadvantages she faced, due to her gender

• In 1988 she worked under a contract with Walt Disney Pictures, producing short films for the theme parks
• Teamed up with John Carpenter and co-writing "Halloween," receiving high praise and success as the two wrote two more sequels to the horror film
• Before her death she worked on the film "World Trade Center" and is credited as one of the main producers of the film
• Was a member of the Producers Guild of America, as well as being an executive committee member of the producer's branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
