• Died of a stroke at the age of 52 in Los Angeles shortly after making his last film, "Valley of the Dolls․"
• Started his career in the film industry as an editor in 1942
• Produced a 3-D film in 1953 called "Charge at Feather River" that featured many items flying at the audience
• Joined Twentieth Century Fox partway through 1956
• Best remembered for producing the classic "Rebel Without a Cause" starring James Dean
• In 1952, he signed a contract with Warner Bros․, making him the youngest producer under contract for the studio
• Produced a number of Elvis Presley films, including his first movie, "Love Me Tender․"
