• Is a supporter of the charitable organization Foundation Fighting Blindness in honor of his father and sister, who suffer from macular degeneration of the retina
• Graduated from New Mexico State University, which he attended on a football scholarship, with a degree in Journalism Broadcasting
• Worked in sales and attempted to get into news and sports broadcasting before deciding to pursue acting professionally
• Became interested in acting as a teenager when he and a friend would writer and shoot their own films on his friend's father's video camera
• Made his screen acting debut in the TV series "Ned and Stacey" in 1995
