• His first Foo Fighters album with an official band, "The Colour and the Shape," reached the top ten of the album charts in 1997 and featured the hit songs "Monkey Wrench," "Everlong" and "My Hero․"
• Began playing guitar from an early age and formed his first band, the H․ G․ Hancock Band, with his friend at the age of 10
• Got an audition to become the drummer for Nirvana in 1990 thanks to Buzz Osbourne of the Melvins
• Played with several punk bands during high school before dropping out during his junior year to join the hardcore band Scream
