• Along with other cast members of "The First Wives Club" he won the 1996 National Board of Review Award for Best Acting by an Ensemble
• Was the valedictorian at his graduation from South Pasadena High School and graduated from Morse College magna cum laude after receiving a full scholarship to Yale University
• Switched his primary interest from fine art to acting when he won a role in a college play that got him discovered by a casting director
• With notable exceptions like his megalomaniac villain role in "The Langoliers" miniseries, he usually plays amusing and sometimes eccentric characters
• Many of the characters he has played have a French accent
• His days as an art student led to an enduring interest in ancient Greek sculpture
• Was an active member of The International Wizard of Oz Club during the 1970s
