• Was honored in 2000 when the historic Cassa Manana Theatre named their Betty Lynn Buckley Awards after her, held annually since to honor excellence in high school music theatre
• In March 2007, she was honored with an induction into the Texas Film Hall of Fame in Austin
• Was nominated for the Drama Desk Award for outstanding actress in a musical in 1983
• Graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in journalism
• Was discovered while performing at the Miss America Pageant
• Following her debut stage performance in a production of "Gypsy" at Fort Worth's historic Casa Manana, as a teen she performed several times a day in musical revues held by Six Flags Over Texas
• Was runner up in the 1966 Miss Texas competition
• She has served as a faculty member for the theatre and music departments of the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)
