• July 17, 1981 was declared Art Laboe Day by the City of Los Angeles because it was the day he was awarded his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
• Became the first person to sell out a rock and roll concert at the Hollywood Bowl with Dick Clark
• Was honored with a LA Radio Lifetime Achievement Award for his extensive radio career and contributions to the Los Angeles area in 2010
• Was the first DJ to play rock and roll music on a West Coast radio station as well as the first to include both black and white artists in his shows
• First began hosting his radio show at Scrivner's Drive-In, where he would invite the teenagers hanging out there to request songs to be played live
• Best known as a radio DJ, songwriter, and record producer who has hosted a show on KRLA since the 1950s
• Is typically credited with coining the term "Oldies But Goodies," which was the title of his compilation album of hit songs
