• Was inducted into the Juno Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002, and was the very first person to be inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Hall of Fame
• Attended Mount Saint Vincent University and graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Physical Education
• Began taking classical voice lessons at the age of 15
• Released her first solo album, "What About Me," in 1968, and released her second album, "This Is My Way," only one year later after signing with Capitol Records
• First performed on television as a cast member of "Singalong Jubilee" in 1966
