• Initially a pre-med student at the University of Michigan, she changed her major to drama after seeing her older brother perform in a stage production of Oklahoma!
• First success in the entertainment industry with a role the "The Bob Cummings Show", a part that she won because her friend's boyfriend served as the show's casting director
• Gained nationwide fame for her role on "The Brady Bunch" as Alice the family housekeeper, a role that she would revive for several decades after
• One of several Brady cast members to accept the TVLand Pop Culture Award in 2007
• Unofficially retired from acting, except for small parts over the years, in 1976 and moved to Denver
