• Best known for her role as Julie Holden in "The Beast with Five Fingers" and as Stella in "The Lemon Drop Kid․"
• Made her screen acting debut as Hilda Bensinger in "The Ramparts We Watch" in 1940
• Was spotted by Shubert Brothers vice president C․P․ Greneker in school recital and soon made her Broadway debut in "Growing Pains" at only 14 years old
• Her other stage appearances included "Fly Away Home," "Boy Meets Girl," "Life with Father," and "Angel Street․"
• Her stage name was given to her by studio head Jack Warner in 1944
• My Wild Irish Rose marked her first appearance in a Technicolor film, and was also the first film in which she sang and danced
• Wrote a biography about herself and her mother, Belle Hart, with the help of Paul Miles Schneider entitled "More Than Tongue Can Tell․"
