• Graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University with a degree in Biology and earned her Master's in Acting from Yale University
• Spent five years performing in off-Broadway and regional theaters before she began traveling to Los Angeles during pilot seasons
• Was first elected to the SAG board in 1994 after she and the rest of the cast of the TV series she was working on were being underpaid
• Worked as a paralegal in New York to pay for acting classes and appeared in a number of small productions during college
