• In 2011, he received the National Theatre School's Gascon-Thomas Award, which recognizes two Canadian artists annually for contributions to the growth of theater
• Won the 2011 outstanding achievement award from the Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame
• Received three Dora Awards for a 2009 prodution of "Festen․"
• Was one of only 13 people out of several thousand to be accepted into the National Theatre School
• Graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada in 2000
• His older brother is composer Greg Hawco
• One of his early on-stage roles was in a Shakespeare by the Sea production of "Macbeth․"
• Along with playing the titular character on "Republic of Doyle," he was also a co-creator, executive producer, head writer and showrunner
• Best known for playing Jake Doyle in "Republic of Doyle" and Capt․ Mick Graham in "ZOS: Zone of Separation․"
• Co-founded The Company Theatre in Toronto with Philip Riccio
• Under the tutelage of Master Scot Downey, he has a red belt in Taekwon Do
