• Once served as the judicial director of the University of Miami's alumni association
• Left law enforcement at 24-years-old to attend law school at the University of Miami
• Born in Cuba during the early '60s, he and his family immigrated to the U․S․ when he was an infant, eventually settling around Miami

• Named an Associate Administrative Judge with the 11th Judicial Circuit in Miami by 1995, where he would remain for 10 years

• He was the judge that presided over the real-life case based on the 2013 film, "Pain & Gain"
• At 19-years-old, he would become one of Florida's youngest police officers
