The Outsider Reviews

One of the better films concerning the tensions in Northern Ireland, THE OUTSIDER stars Craig Wasson as a young Irish-American inspired by his grandfather's patriotic tales of fighting the British years ago. He arrives in Belfast and discovers he is the target of an IRA plot. The IRA is planning to arrange his death so that it appears to be the work of the British army, thereby turning him into an American martyr and raising funds from sympathetic Irish-Americans. The occupying British are no more flatteringly portrayed than the IRA. The production (which came in at under $3 million) begins and ends in Detroit, but most of it was shot in Dublin, substituting for Belfast.
