Charlie Sheen Fails to Submit Himself for Emmy Consideration

Two and a Half Men won't be up for an Emmy this year — and neither will Charlie Sheen.
Sheen did not submit himself for consideration in the lead comedy actor race and his name is missing on the official Emmys ballot list, which was released by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Monday night.

A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that Sheen was notified of all the submission deadlines and that the TV academy gave the actor an extension due to a loophole in the guidelines after the April 29 deadline passed. Because his Men co-stars had submitted on time, the rulebook encourages the inclusion of "all eligible entrants.""When his representative came forward [on May 3] to ask if he could be included in the cluster of performers who were already entered, we considered the above inclusionary rule applicable because a loose confederacy of other performer reps had already submitted a partial but incomplete team of principal performers, and with Charlie in we would have accomplished the rule's letter and spirit intent of having 'all eligible entrants' in the fold," an rep for the TV academy said.

Sheen, a four-time nominee, missed the final May 25 deadline, and there is no appeals process.Men stars Jon Cryer, who won the supporting comedy actor Emmy in 2009, Angus T. Jones, Holland Taylor, Conchata Ferrell and guest star Jane Lynch all submitted themselves. The show, however, won't be in the running for comedy series, as CBS opted not to submit it after the Sheen debacle this year.Emmy nominations will be announced Thursday, July 14. The ceremony, hosted by Lynch, will air live Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8/7c on Fox.
