Beverly Hills, 90210 Officially Revived With the Original Cast -- And a Twist

Beverly Hills' most-famous residents are coming back to the zip code. Fox announced Wednesday that it had officially revived Beverly Hills, 90210, with most of the original cast, as a six-episode event series to air this summer.

Stars Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green and Tori Spelling are slated to star in the new series as variations of themselves -- a meta twist that gives the new-old Beverly Hills, 90120 its premise: "Having gone their separate ways since the original series ended 19 years ago, Jason, Jennie, Ian, Gabrielle, Brian and Tori reunite when one of them suggests it's time to get a Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot up and running. But getting it going may make for an even more delicious soap than the reboot itself. What will happen when first loves, old romances, friends and frenemies come back together, as this iconic cast -- whom the whole world watched grow up together -- attempts to continue from where they left off?"

Not confirmed to appear just yet are former cast members Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry. But each actor could reportedly factor into the series as its development continues.

"Beverly Hills, 90210 left an indelible impact on pop culture and an entire generation," said Michael Thorn, President of Entertainment at Fox, in a statement. "Its powerful legacy is an important part of our network's DNA -- bold stories not told anywhere else and bigger-than-life-characters -- and we're honored to bring back the beloved original cast members for 90210."

The original series premiered on Oct. 4, 1990 and ran for 10 seasons, turning its stars into household names. In 2008, a 90210 reboot was launched on The CW with Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas among its producers. That show featured the returns of Garth, Doherty and Spelling as their former characters.
