American Idol: Which Girl Was Sent Home?

And then there were four. For the first time this season, a female finalist was eliminated on American Idol Thursday night. Who was it?

The show kicked off with a rousing medley of Donna Summer hits from the Top 5, plus footage from a group activity in which a scavenger hunt led the ladies to a celebrity prize: Glee's Matthew Morrison, in a barber shop. The night also featured performances by Idol alums Clay Aiken and Fantasia Barrino.

After that, Ryan Seacrestbrought up each girl individually to review their performances from Wednesday night. Nicki Minaj redirected her disdain from Mariah Carey to Jimmy Iovine, who said he wasn't feeling Angie Miller's rendition of Beyonce's "Halo." "Jimmy doesn't know what he's talking about," Minaj assured Angie.

When it was Candice Glover's turn, Randy Jackson made a big show of saying that he was unable to get in touch with former Idol judge Paula Abdul to get her opinion of Candice's "Straight Up" performance from the night before. But as he was talking, Abdul tiptoed out from backstage, creeping up behind Candice and scaring the living daylights out of her, before stealing Randy's seat the judges' table. (Oh, and she loved Candice's interpretation.)

Similarly, though she didn't make an in-person appearance, Dolly Parton sent Janelle Arthur a note complimenting her performance of "Dumb Blonde" and telling her not to feel "a bit bad" that Keith Urban didn't "feel" the performance.

Bottom Two:
Janelle Arthur and Kree Harrison, with Janelle singing for the save.

For her Save Me song, Janelle opted to revisit her own arrangement of "You Keep Me Hangin' On," her strongest song in the competition from Motown Week. And even though she didn't have her guitar with her this time, she still gave a knock-out performance. But it wasn't enough, and the judges couldn't come to a unanimous decision to use the save, so Janelle was sent home.
