Dan Futterman and Roger Bart are the latest to jump on board USA's Political Animals, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

The six-part miniseries, from Greg Berlanti  (Brothers & Sisters, Everwood), stars Sigourney Weaver as Elaine Barrish, a former First Lady who immerses herself in her new job as Secretary of State after the end of her marriage and losing the Presidential nomination. Elaine tries to keep her family together while juggling her demanding job and an ambitious D.C. journalist (Carla Gugino) determined to ruin Elaine's career.

Ellen Burstyn joins USA's Political Animals

As first reported by Deadline, Futterman will play Alex Davies, the Bureau Chief of the Washington Journal, who romances Gugino's character. Bart steps into the role of Barry Harris, the new President Garcetti's Chief of Staff who has a political vendetta against Elaine and takes great pleasure in cutting her out of policy decisions.

Futterman, an Oscar nominee for penning the Capote script, has also appeared on Will & Grace and Judging Amy. Bart is best known for his role as Bree's ex-fiancée — and her first husband's killer! — George, on Desperate Housewives. He currently recurs on Revenge as author and journalist Mason Treadwell.

Futterman and Bart join other previously announced cast members Ellen Burstyn, Lone Star's James Wolk, Gossip Girl's Sebastian Stan, Brittany Ishibashi (The Mentalist), and Ciarán Hinds (Rome) as Elaine's ex-husband.

Political Animals will air Sundays this July on USA.
