In the two-part series finale, Nina packs her belongings and prepares to leave Everwood with Jake, but not before telling Hannah that she knows Dr. Brown bought her an engagement ring. Hannah convinces Nina to sneak into the house and look at the ring while the Browns are out, and Jake once again confronts Dr. Brown about his feelings for Nina. With their house sold, Nina and her son temporarily move in with the Browns. Wanting to take care of an unresolved issue in his life before he can propose marriage to Nina, Dr. Brown takes a mysterious trip. Meanwhile, at Delia's Bat Mitzvah, Amy realizes she still has strong feelings for Ephram when she sees him with his new girlfriend, Stephanie--who competes with Amy for his affections. Also, after a patient leaves her baby on the Abbotts' doorstep, Dr. Abbott tries to figure out the best course of action, especially when Rose becomes attached to the little girl.

And when Dr. Brown's father, Gene (recurring guest star CHARLES DURNING), announces that his visit is over, father and son have an honest and long-overdue conversation about their feelings for each other.

Meanwhile, Ephram and Amy take Bright out to celebrate his 21st birthday, but Bright drinks too much, falls through a window and ends up in the hospital. Hannah (recurring guest star SARAH DREW) rushes from her date with Nick (recurring guest star CHRIS EGAN) to be at Bright's side. Nina decides to move to Los Angeles with Jake (recurring guest star SCOTT WOLF), which is devastating news for Dr. Brown. And Irv and Edna plan to buy a recreational vehicle and spend their retirement traveling the country.

Nina tries to deal with her confusing emotions regarding Dr. Brown and realizes she will have to make a decision when Jake (recurring guest star SCOTT WOLF) asks her to move to Los Angeles with him. And Dr. Abbott points out to Rose that they were so caught up in the adoption procedure that they've been taking each other for granted.

Premise: A smart, if at times sudsy, multigenerational drama about a New York doctor who moves to Colorado with his two kids after his wife's death and opens a clinic. His arrival at first upset the town's other doctor, but the two eventually became unlikely partners and formed a friendship when their teenaged kids started dating. Series creator Greg Berlanti had been a writer-producer on `Dawson's Creek.'
