Thomas Dekker Confirmed for Fox's Backstrom

Thomas Dekker has officially joined Fox's crime show Backstrom, TVGuide.com has learned. The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles and Secret Circle alum was a member of the cast when the project was at CBS, but was left off the cast list when Fox ordered it to series last week. He will be a series regular in the Fox incarnation of the project.

Thomas Dekker has officially joined Fox's crime show Backstrom, TVGuide.com has learned.

The Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles and Secret Circle alum was a member of the cast when the project was at CBS, but was left off the cast list when Fox ordered it to series last week. He will be a series regular in the Fox incarnation of the project.

The drama is based on the Swedish book series about an overweight, irascible detective (Rainn Wilson in his first series role since The Office) as he tries and fails to change his self-destructive behavior.

Must-see new winter shows

Dekker will play Gregory Valentine, the same role he held in the original project. Gregory is a day, whip-smart former hustler-turned-entrepreneurial crook who acts as Backstrom's connection to the underworld.

The series — executive-produced by Bones creator Hart Hanson, Niclas Salomonsson, Mark Mylod (Shameless) and author Leif G.W. Persson — also stars 24 alum Dennis Haysbert,Life Unexpected's Kristoffer PolahaPage Kennedy (Weeds) and Beatrice Rosen(Charmed). Roles played by Mamie Gummer and Camryn Manheim, who were both also in the original CBS project, will be recast.

Production on the 13-episode drama will kick off early this year.
