Three alums from the improv comedy troupe Second City will be joining the cast of Saturday Night Live as featured players this season, NBC announced Monday.
SNL recruits two Second City alums for new season
As previously reported, Tim Robinson and Aidy Bryant will come on board this season. Monday's announcement also included the casting of Cecily Strong. In addition to performing at Second City, all three have studied and performed at the iO improv theater in Chicago.
The new players are the latest batch of Second City alums to join the SNL cast. Others include Bill Hader, Tina Fey and Chris Farley.
Will Jason Sudeikis return to Saturday Night Live?
The SNL cast has gone through quite a bit of shuffling since the end of last season, with Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Abby Elliott all announcing their departures.
Saturday Night Live kicks off its 38th season on Sept. 15, with Seth MacFarlane hosting and Frank Ocean as the musical guest.
