Cheers to 30 Rock for not being afraid to rock the boat — or the vote. The Emmy-winning sitcom has always gleefully bitten the corporate hand that feeds it, satirizing NBC and its parent company, GE. But during the election campaign, 30 Rock's gags have turned surprisingly political, taking shots at Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and President Bush (Jack Donaghy, who took a job with the administration alongside Matthew Broderick's king-of-denial Cooter Burger, proudly referred to Dubya not as a "lame duck" but a "lame eagle"). Ever wondered what a Fox reality show would look like on NBC? Watch, and revel in, the glimpses we’re shown of the fictional (at least for now) reality spoof "MILF Island" in tonight’s first episode back of 30 Rock. Everyone from Alec Baldwin’s deliciously malicious network boss Jack Donaghy to a certain other vice president who should have better things to do are glued to the season finale of "Island," which is what Survivor would look like if populated by cougar moms and adolescent boys. It’s a hilarious backdrop to an episode that, as is often the case, is at its best when Jack and beleaguered Liz Lemon (the terrific Tina Fey) tangle and tango over the sad state of the business we call show. The secret to 30 Rock's guest-casting success? Reversing the formula employed at Saturday Night Live. "With the exception of Jerry Seinfeld, who volunteered [to guest-star] and we leapt at it, every other time we have written the part first and then [cast it]," Tina Fey tells TVGuide.com. "Then it's coming organically from the stories. Doing the reverse of SNL — where you say, 'We have this person. What can we do with them?' — has worked well for us."What sort of guest stars does the Rock have lined up for Season 2's return on April 10? "Will Arnett is back," Fey confirms, "and Dean Winters will be back.... And I hope Edie Falco will be back," as Jack Donaghy's uberliberal ex-lover. Ricky Gervais is assembling a diverse, star-studded cast for his upcoming film, This Side of the Truth — and he just added four more talents to his roster, starting with Tina Fey.Along with the 30 Rock star, Gervais has also tapped Christopher Guest, Jeffrey Tambor and Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman (aka the PC man to Justin Long's Mac) for the flick. Vanity Fair has released pictures from its upcoming April issue featuring funny ladies Tina Fey, Sarah Silverman and Amy Poehler on the cover. They look more like Greek goddesses in flowing gowns than the "tomboy" garb they're usually photographed in on the job — the point being that women can be funny and hot.
