Jon Stewart reclaimed his Daily Show throne on Tuesday after a 12-week hiatus that allowed Stewart to direct a movie in the Middle East. And apparently, the experience had a lasting effect.

During the opening, interim host John Oliver knocked on Stewart's dressing room door to find him, scruffy beard and all, speaking in Arabic. Eventually, with the help of Stephen Colbert, Stewart is transformed into his American self. Watch:
Once Stewart returned to his desk, he talked about what he learned abroad and got a crash course on what happened over the summer, including sharknadoes, Paula Deen and Carlos Danger!
