The Hope for Haiti Now benefit album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart, with 171,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

SoundScan noted that sales for the album, compiled by MTV Networks from performances at Friday's telethon, were particularly impressive since it was available barely two days — between late Friday and Sunday, when the weekly tracking ends.
