Emmys: TVGuide.com's picks for supporting actor in a comedy series

Ilana GlazerBroad City

We love Abbi and Ilana equally, but Glazer was the undisputed MVP of the Comedy Central series' first season. The fictional Ilana's apathy and total disregard to everyone around her could've rendered her completely unlikable, but Glazer plays it with such fearless abandon that's contagious, refreshing and somehow endearing. The UCB alum already has a Critics' Choice nod under her belt.

Mindy KalingThe Mindy Project

To simply call Mindy Lahiri a hot mess would be an insult to everything Kaling does with the character. Kaling, who's been nominated as a producer and writer for The Office, has found the perfect alchemy of swagger, chaos and hopeless romantic to create a wholly genuine and relatable modern rom-com heroine. And anyone who has a wine bra gets our vote.
Julia Louis-DreyfusVeep
Saying JLD deserves an Emmy for Veep is like pointing out that water is wet. The two-time defending champ is always excellent, but she brought her A++ game in Season 3 as everyone's favorite narcissistic veep cursed her way to the White House (with a little help from POTUS and FLOTUS). Plus: That hilarious bathroom scene with Tony Hale in "Crate" all but cements the deal.

Wendi McLendon-CoveyThe GoldbergsIs it weird to say that the Reno 911! and Bridesmaids star was born to play a real person? Sweetly crazy (and vice versa), McLendon-Covey is deliriously good as Beverly, who's based on creator Adam F. Goldberg's mother, never overplaying her overbearing antics to the point where you forget that it all comes from a place of love. If she can't get an Emmy, she needs a Smother of the Year award.Amy PoehlerParks and RecreationPoehler finally won her first major award for Parks and Rec at the Golden Globes, and we can only hope that a long overdue Emmy is next. It's easy to play snarky, bitchy and jaded, but it's much harder to do what Poehler has done for nearly seven years: make a tirelessly chipper person never feel tired. Taylor SchillingOrange Is the New BlackNo one would blame Schilling if she had gotten lost among Orange's colorful and far showier array of Litchfield inmates in the seemingly thankless, on paper at least, role of Piper. But the Golden Globe nominee (in the drama category) has deftly navigated the waters, toeing the sympathy line for a woman stripped of privilege like a seasoned pro. The good news for Schilling? Voting commenced hot on the heels ofOrange's red-hot Season 2 release.Find out why you should binge-watch Orange Is the New Black:
