Fast & Furious 6 held onto the top spot at the box office this weekend, raking in $34.5 million, Box Office Mojo reports. Though it was a 65 percent dropoff from the action film's opening weekend haul, it was still enough to beat newcomers Now You See Me and the Will Smith/M. Night Shyamalan collaboration After Earth.

The caper flick Now You See Me, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Morgan Freeman, came in second with a surprisingly strong debut of $28 million. However, the father-son apocalypse film After Earth, starring Smith and his real-life son Jaden, bombed with just $27 million, landing at No. 3.

Rounding out the top five were Star Trek Into Darkness and Epic, which both took in $16.4 million.
In sixth place was The Hangover Part III, which fell more than 60 percent from its first weekend to earn $15.9 million. Iron Man 3 netted $8 million to come in seventh, and The Great Gatsbywas the No. 8 film with $6.3 million.
The Bollywood film Yei Jawaani Hai Deewani did surprisingly well, landing at No. 9 with $1.65 million, despite showing in less than 165 theaters. Mud rounded out the Top 10 with $1.2 million.
