The best-kept secret of the event: the identity of the designer of Middleton's dress. Ultimately, Kate chose Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen. The ivory gown has a low-cut front (for a princess, at least) and a lace bodice overlay. Intricate details of the dress can be found on the official Royal Wedding website.

Celebrity guests included David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and David Furnish, Guy Ritchie and Rowan Atkinson. Victoria, who is expecting her fourth child this summer, wore a blousy navy dress she designed and a matching Philip Treacy hat. Her husband donned a gray Ralph Lauren suit with his Order of the British Empire medal pinned to his lapel. John went uncharacteristically traditional in a traditional morning coat, a yellow vest and purple tie.

After the ceremony, Prince William and his bride hopped into a horse and carriage and made their way past thousands of well-wishers to Buckingham Palace for their first official celebration as man and wife, a canapés-and-cocktails reception before a more intimate dinner later.

At precisely 1:25 p.m. London time, Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, accompanied by their families, greeted the crowd from the palace balcony. Middleton appeared to say, "Oh, wow!" upon seeing the assembled masses. Soon after, the couple had their first (very short) kiss as a married couple. As if to make up for that inadequate peck, they soon kissed again, just before the Royal Air Force and a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight soared overhead.
