Previously, speculation surrounded Kathryn Hahn (Free Agents) for the role, but she'll instead play an adviser to one of Leslie's rivals. Comedy great Carl Reiner will also guest-star as one of Pawnee's most powerful elders.

Rudd is mainly known for his big-screen credits such as Role Models and I Love You, Man. On TV, he played the recurring character Mike Hannigan on Friends and guest-starred on Veronica Mars.
