TheWB.com to Launch Aug. 27

The WB is coming back — in Web form.TheWB.com, currently in beta, will officially launch on Aug. 27 and will stream a combo of defunct favorites and original Web series, the Hollywood Reporter reports. The online network is aiming to appeal to the same youth demographic as the broadcast network — which merged with UPN to form the CW two years ago — once did and will populate the site with old goodies like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Friends, The O.C., Gilmore Girls, Angel and Roswell. But one can't just dwell in the past. Original Web skeins will roll out over the course of the next few months, beginning with two on the launch date: Blue Water High, about six Australian teens making waves at a surf academy, and A Boy Wearing Makeup, a video diary in which Mathiew Francis doles out beauty and fashion advice. The O.C. and Chuck honcho Josh Schwartz is slated to get in on the action too. He will create an as-yet-untitled music show about a fictional Hollywood rock club, while... read more

Matt LeBlanc's Ex-Rep Is No Friend, Takes Him to Trial

Matt LeBlanc may be needing a little help from his Friends soon, thanks to a ruling Tuesday that will allow a breach-of-contract suit against him to go to trial. An L.A. judge decided against a request by LeBlanc's legal team to dismiss a suit that the actor's ex-manager, Camille Cerio, filed last August, says E!. Cerio claims that he owes her more than a million bucks in commission back-payments.Cerio reportedly managed LeBlanc betwen 1994 and 1995, and she claims that at the time, LeBlanc agreed to pay her 15 percent of all earnings "derived" from the Friends phenomenon. The cash, she says, stopped flowing in 2000, four years before the show ended. With a trial date set for Sept. 22, LeBlanc has time to mull things over, and so do we: Who should come out on top? — Anna DimondUse our Online Video Guide to reminisce about Friends.Related:• How You Suin'? In that spirit, we're looking for more cute and cuddly — but this time we want to hear about the animals on the boob tube. There are so many choices, and we want to hear them all!So, which of our furry friends is your favorite? Tell us who and why in the comments, and check back to see if your choice makes our list! read more

The Joy Of Sets: What's Your Top TV Moment?

OK, so after this week, we should be all through with our season finales. David Cook is our new American Idol, those Desperate Housewives are going to be five years older (making them all roughly 108), and God only knows who Lucas proposed to on One Tree Hill. I’m dyin’ over that one. Big stuff as always. Which got me to thinking about TV’s greatest OMG moments. Here are a few of my faves...all beautifully available on DVD. What are yours? The Friends finale — Mercifully not the oddity that Seinfeld left us with, this 10th-season kicker (seen by over 50 million fans) was as sweet as a Central Perk mocha and finally gave us hope that Ross and Rachel had a future. Of course, knowing what a tool Ross could be, he probably screwed it up months later.Buy Friends from Amazon.comJordin-vs-Blake — Everyone says that Idol’s sixth finale was its weakest, but after re-screening American Idol Season Six: The Top Two, I beg to differ. With my girl Jordin Sparks battl... read more

Premise: A classic sitcom that reflected the lives of six twentysomething friends: three men and three women, living in New York. Sometimes touching and often hilarious, it addressed universal themes like falling in---or out of---love, finding a job and dealing with (as well as becoming) parents, and inspired numerous friends-themed knockoffs, none of which conveyed the warmth and humor of the original. A spin-off, `Joey,' featuring Matt LeBlanc's character, was slated to debut in the fall of 2004.
