Now here's a Heroes newcomer I can get behind — if only because it could offer Veronica Mars fans a very special reunion. Francis Capra, aka the toughie 'Ron (and Mars viewers) loved to hate, is joining the NBC hit this fall in the recurring role of Jesse.Who or what is Jesse? Q: You gave us some scoop on Rob Thomas' 90210 spin-off, now can we get some news on his remake of Cupid? I always thought it was a shame the original was canceled. A: I never actually watched the original, so I'll be viewing this reboot with virgin eyes. And I like what I'm seeing so far: a behind-the-scenes staff that looks virtually identical to the crew Thomas used on Veronica Mars. That can only mean good things. read more

Criminy, run and buy a lottery ticket, Rob! On Thursday, just hours after news broke about the Veronica Mars creator possibly bringing Beverly Hills, 90210 back to life for the CW, ABC gave a green light to the pilot for Thomas' new version of Cupid, the romantic comedy he gave the tube back in the '90s. Back then, Cupid starred Jeremy Piven as a man who believed it was his mission to help Zeus boost romantically challenged mortals. Q: Any word from Rob Thomas yet? Are we getting a Veronica Mars comic? Or something? A: Just heard from the Mars master and, while there's nothing new to report on the VM front, he does have several potentially kick-ass projects percolating at various stages of development. Among them: his Cupid reboot, and a single-camera comedy he cowrote with Paul Rudd titled Party Down that's generating some very good buzz. Q: Given the problems facing networks with pilot season in doubt, is there any chance that the Veronica Mars FBI concept could be resurrected for Fall 2008? In general, would pilots that weren't picked up be considered for slots as new shows next fall? I know that sounds strange, but I assume that the same people who made errors in picking up shows that bombed are equally capable of having made the error of passing on shows that could have worked.
