A New Prison Break Is in Development

A "new iteration" is in the works

Prison Break is plotting a new breakout.

"We are developing a new iteration of Prison Break," Fox Entertainment chief Michael Thorn confirmed during Fox's executive session at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. "It's in very early stages of development, but we're really excited about it."

A "new iteration" seems to indicate that Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell won't be back for Season 6 (and it seems safe to guess that Robert Knepper, who has been accused of sexual assault by five women, won't be back in any iteration), but Purcell teased on Instagram last month that a new season was in the works, so maybe he'll be back after all. Thorn stressed that it's in very early stages, so there's very little to say for sure.

Prison Break initially ran from 2005 to 2009, and returned for a fifth season last year. Season 5 ended with the main characters living normal lives, so a new iteration would shake them out of that.
