NCIS: New Orleans?

Viewers may be able to find that show on their DVRs as early as next fall if things go according to plan.

Deadline reports that NCIS showrunner Gary Glasberg and series star/executive producer Mark Harmon are working on a planted spin-off series to be introduced in a two-part NCIS episode in the spring.

The planted spin-off, which will shoot in February, centers on the NCIS New Orleans office which handles cases from Pensacola through Mississippi and Louisiana to the Texas panhandle. New Orleans was selected specifically because of its reputation as a fun city filled with rich culture and debauchery, which makes it a popular destination for military personnel on leave.

NCIS, which kicks off Season 11 Tuesday, successfully spun off into NCIS: Los Angeles back in 2009. NCIS: LA is now going into its fifth season and will soon hit its 100th episode. However, NCIS: LA was less successful in launching a new spin-off earlier this year when Red, starring John Corbett and Kim Raver, failed to get a series order.
