Nathan Lane will star in and executive-produce a new comedy on USA, the network announced Friday.
The untitled Douglas McGrath Project stars the Tony winner as an unlucky actor whose Broadway aspirations have to be put on hold and return to his Texas hometown when his father's health takes a turn for the worse. Cheyenne Jackson (30 Rock, Glee) and Ken Jenkins (Scrubs) will also star.
"Nathan Lane is one of the most versatile comedic forces in the entertainment industry. We're thrilled to have an actor his stature and Doug McGrath's masterful script aligned with the launch of our comedy brand," said Bill McGoldrick, Senior Vice President of Original Scripted Programming at USA Network. "We're not surprised the combination of Nathan and Doug quickly attracted such high-caliber and notable actors as Cheyenne and Ken."
Oscar nominee McGrath will write and direct the pilot, as well as executive-produce alongside Lane.
